Well, I hope I do!

(know what I’m doing I mean)

I got into digital things in 1997

(when the internet was all spinning globes and loads of people hadn’t heard of it).

I'd just written my car off.

It was in Scotland. I was on artist’s residency being introduced to websites for sculptors (I’d just finished a Fine Art degree specialising in sculpture & video). Then I got a call from an ex-boyfriend that sent me into a literal tailspin and I did an idiot driving move.

So I moved to London (who needs a car there?) and used the insurance money to buy a computer.

(The monitor weighed as much as a fridge)

Cue a year in my bedroom...

… learning how to build websites and make animations. There were only a few books around (and definitely no Google). But there was a wildly generous online community who shared their knowledge like it grew on trees.

Finally - armed with my beginner-level skills - I set out on my quest to learn what I was actually doing.

My first site (for a subsidence contractor) took a year to get right. I learnt a lot about sewage-pipe cameras.

But things got better.

Fast foward eleven years.

Through grit, determination, endless learning, and some inspirational, encouraging people, I’d found myself working on animated websites, games, banner ads, massive company rebrands, software interfaces, lovingly hand-crafted html sites (and some truly horrible early content management systems) for clients ranging from Vogue to Nintendo to all the UK stations on the Channel Tunnel rail route.

Plus I’d led the digital design team at London agency The Croc, creating some award-winning, highly complicated multi-language sites for tech firms, alongside lots of integrated B2C marketing campaigns.

It was time to get out of Dodge ...

{move to Ely, Cambridgeshire…}

Now I use all of that background to…

Help small businesses, consultants and creatives with...

  • Messaging
  • Brand identities
  • Websites, animations and digital marketing campaigns that communicate what you’re about and where you’re heading

Keep learning… endlessly

When you work in digital, the learning never stops. And when you’re a creative, you can always be better.

(Is it great yet?
No? Keep going…)

Keep making art things...

(Because…well, I love it).

Andrea

I could eat it! Just look at those backgrounds and colours. I’m going to go up to people in the street and make them look at my website – you’re a genius!

There’s a special skill in telling stories, and thinking in terms of time and space. Susie is an absolute whizz at this.

Susie took the time to understand the business and what we needed, and helpfully guided us with site layout and content. We now have exactly what we asked for (and more) thanks to Susie’s hard work and expertise.
